Meet Trigger from San Jose, CA -
"Basenji-proof" sweater or coat for sleeping in cold bedroomBasenji’s are truly heat seeking dogs. Trigger sleeps at the foot of the bed under the covers in the same spot every night. I chuckle every morning when I get up and see just his nose peaking out of the covers.

New Basenji owner from Texas!Bully sticks, bully sticks, bully sticks saved me during Trigger’s puppy chewing. At this young age they really aren’t swallowing much just chewing. I also used a long alligator type chew toy to keep him distracted while walking to save my feet.

How do I limit puppy biting???Bully sticks saved us with Trigger

Play timeI would that the long snake like tug toy saved my ankles during puppy teething. I would drag that and Trigger would tug that and would not bite my feet as I walked around the house.

How to Find a Lost Dog (not my basenji)I see you’re in the Bay Area and I’m downtown San Jose. I see lost and reunited pets on the local neighborhood Facebook groups and the Next Door app all the time.

Is my Basenji sad? New owner - any support appreciatedI’ve found that Trigger is a much happier dog when stimulated regularly. He goes to doggie day care twice a week to play with other dogs and we go to the trail once or twice a week with a friends lab. This seems to quench his need for other K9 play and he’s very well balanced at home. It was a challenge when daycare was closed during the shelter in place and he was noticeably naughty.

Is a small studio apartment good for a Basenji?I live in a condo on the 5th floor in an urban setting. Trigger needs frequent stimulation and exercise. I take him to doggie day care 2 - 3 days a week where he plays so hard he's content being home the next day to rest. Fortunately, I am able to go home and walk Trigger at lunch most days. We also hit the trail most every weekend.

Advice for Potty Training a Young Basenji in the WinterI live on the 5th floor and I used a Pet Loo from Amazon on my balcony until Trigger had all of his shots. I would set my alarm and get up a couple times a night and take him out on the balcony even in the rain and cold. At age 2 he is better about going out in the rain, does his business and wants to head back to the building.
