I watched my 7mo. old puppy barrel headlong into the road, after a careless nieghborhood boy flung open my kitchen door one day. unfortunatley she was actually hit and is no longer with us. If you truly love your B, you will leash her at all times in an unfenced area. it only takes one squirrel/bird/car/ puppy/or even bag in the wind to capture a B's attention, and lead them to the end of thier life. also encouraging any sort of chase behavior with a B can lead to them feeling like running free with you following is a game. I would do anything to have her back.

RE: Have to give my boy away
hello there.. I have applied to Brat but have not yet had a home visit, ( although i have spoken to the lady who is in charge of visits in my area she was just really busy at the time, and I had puppyitis) I do have a 6 month old B girl.. she's my first.(bless her there were some tense moments, but we have survived the battle for sure….She stopped trashing my house and i abandonned the crate. ( her screaming was intolerable.) and will be moving to a new home as of july 1st. I have been contemplating getting a male for her. By chewing do you mean, socks underwear paper products marker lids kids toys and shoes or is it more furniture and drywall? because if its the regular pesky basengi pick up your stuff or else... than i would be happy to have him. if he is crazy destructive or not housebroken i would have to decline. But we are looking for a hubby for our b girl. oh yes our house also has a child so he would have to be child friendly. you can contact my page if you would like details. oh yes we are in southwestern ontario. doggie would need to come to MI with papers for border travel. just an option for you.. no matter what i pray he will find a good home. P.S. how old is he and was he faconi tested?

RE: The Toilet Paper Thief
My rosey is a TP-aholic, she just cant resist it if she finds a roll anywhere, she can shred a roll in about 10 seconds flat also my bathroom trash bin has to live on the back of the toliet.. or else you'll find its all over the house even in my bed ohh the horror…
My friends with other breeds of dogs keep saying why oh why do i let her run my house they simply have no idea -

RE: Litter box training
This is really going to sound silly, forgive me but it worked I bought my b a raincoat at pet smart. It sounds ridiculous, and looks even more so, but my puppy will now walk in the rain. but i still have to push her out the door and off the porch.

RE: Basenji Puppies for Sale Ovid, MI
well i was finished with griping about this, as there was alot of details missing in this thread, i wanted a female, and we had spoke of a payment arrangment. i had replied asking about whether the pups were tested to which a response came saying that they were sold and that the males were still available. now because i posted a reply i was suddenly unsuitable? I was simply miffed because i had already let my son know that he was getting a red and white female puppy who he had named, and had a picture of. I truly believe that had we said we would take a male there would be no issue. (and i could post the note if it was really neccesary, ehich i dont believe it is.) nonetheless i decide to do some research here to see if they were tested or posted here, and in fact they were, and in fact they are not tested so we as a family decided to go with a safer choice with regards to health for all concererned so my son would not have to witness life a possibly sick animal. (irregardless of price.) I meant no ill intent or to start a tiff here but the truth of the matter is it was first come fisrt served, on some best buy puppies, with the outcome of thier lives being buyer beware. i have to say thank you to the entire basenji community for putting the information out there about the risks of faconi, which was what gave me a pasue in deciding to place my down payment.
