Is this a new behavior? If so, at his age I would get a vet to have a look at him. If it's a habit he's had for years, perhaps he's just more interested in walking than peeing. My guy will sometimes…...not often.....start to move off before he's through. Or change his mind about the "right spot". But more often with defecation than urination.
This behavior began this past year. It is almost like an older man with a prostate problem. It creats a larger issue when he comes back in the house through the doggie door and leaves a trail along the floor.
We have a 9 year old male Basenji Ty, who will stop to urinate and then when you think he has finished, he will resume walking but keep on urinating. It is like he can't shut it off for about 20 feet or so. He will do this several times at the beginning of his walk. Any ideas?
