My Basenji does the same thing. He also does it on my bed and puts holes in my sheets. Maybe it’s a breed trait.

Rudy insists on having his butt scratched. If I try to ignore him he just backs up until he is touching me. Sort of the same when he wants a treat.

Every morning mine is up pawing at the door to go out on the balcony and lay in the sun.

Basenjis are wonderful dogs for the right people. I love mine even though he has a mind of his own. He is getting up in age and the thought losing him breaks my heart. I am so sorry that you lost yours.

My Basenji will hunt down and kill anything it can. They are natural hunters with a very strong prey drive. A leash is a great idea.

This is my boy Rudy. He is 9 years old. Poor little guy just got over a case of hotspot. Is there anything that can bring relief? I tried everything and nothing really worked.  image url)

Good looking doggie. I have learned that Basenji antics are unique to them. In the beginning I use to wonder do all of them act this way?

Rudy is 5 months and has skinny legs. I think thats the way they are. My vet says he is growning normal.

Hi everyone. I don't remember if I introduced myself or not. My name is Jerome. My Basenji's name is Rudy and he is 5 months old. I have grown to love him, he drives me crazy, but he is really cool. Contradictions I know, but you probably understand.

I did take him to puppy class and he seemed better for a while. We are going to another class soon and I hope that helps. At this point I am willing to try whatever.

Hello everyone. I am new to the forum. My Basenji is Rudy. He is 5 months old and pulls almost during our entire walk. Everything seems to excite him, people, other dogs, cats, rabbits, pieces of paper etc. So far I have tried a choke chain which I hate and the gentle leader which he hates but doesn't pull as much. Will try some of your suggestions.
