RE: New here :)
I understand….all I know is someone else I spoke with who bought from her too said her dog is great and she actually went to the breeders house and saw the situation and her dog is a year old now and is doing great. I can ask further questions to the breeder though

RE: New here :)
Should I ask the breeder to hold off on sending the dog to me till 10 weeks old….she apparently breeds her own dogs and is not a kennel breeder

Thanks for the info. What I meant was hardwork in comparison to any other breed of dog…I know puppies need training and potty training and love and leash training along with supervision and the necessary obedience but was curious of how much more hardwork it would be for a basenji apposed to another dog puppy...

Hi are the puppies really that much of a handful? Like hardwork?

RE: New here :)
thanks for all the concern. I emailed Candyce and she said she has ordered the tests and will tell me the results before she ships the dog out to me.

Hey thanks for the warm welcome and tsjoe maybe we are related jk….I ended up paying a deposit to the breeder Candyce. She is in Texas. The pup is red and white and four weeks old currently, she says he will be ready to come home feb 9 or around there....so far i believe i have read up a lot on basenjis and my aunt owns one.....I plan to enroll him in some puppy obedience classes when he comes. I will try to include a picture of him currently the breeder sent me....the picture is a attachment...lol hope i did it right!

New here :)
Hey! my name is Keri and i am from north california. I do not currently own any basenjis but i plan to adopt one from a breeder i selected within the next month, well i plan to get the puppy by next month since it is not old enough yet. Any advice would be greatly appreciated. Actually, i am in the midst of deciding on either male or female and have some questions about the breed in general like how independent are they and how firm of obedience do they need? i read on some articles online that males need more assertion so they will not assume top dog and be harder to train…i do not know if this is true, so if anyone can please set the record straight it is greatly appreciated. I have been researching into this breed for a week or so, and want to make sure this breed is for me. I am pretty much looking for a affectionate, playful, medium leveled energetic dog, who as i read about basenjis do not need tons of coat care like long hair or smell. From what i have read a basenji seems like a good fit for me. My home does not have young children, and it would be raised inside the house and taken out for walks/jogs daily and played with and so on. Are they like most other dogs in behavior? aside from the yodels, instincts, and cat like cleaning? thanks!!!!
