Tee,
We do have B's there from our group every weekend. There are now about 16-18 B's!
On a rare occasion they will all be there, but usually half that every Sat am show up.
We have a facebook page for our group of LA basenjis as well called "the real Basenjis of hollywood"….so we can share pics and such.
Hope to see you soon!
Raquel

RE: Theresa Hestekin, Eau Claire WI
Jennifer,
His sire was Hestekin Hills Oscar Nominated
His dam Hestekin Hills Love My Princess.
It looks like she sold him as pet quality to the previous owner. We had an amazing local vet and physical therapist evaluate him for his leg and she found the luxation slight but present. We work on exersizes with him regularly so it doesn't act up, but it is a problem for him, he wails and won't put weight on it until we gently massage it and the patella "pops" ( yes, it actually feels like a pop) back into place. Last summer it was a drama for us trying to figure it out!
All is good now, but the vet said we should let the breeder know. However she has not returned calls to us to discuss.
Anything you can tell me would be super, thanks for the reply:)

RE: Theresa Hestekin, Eau Claire WI
A couple of years ago I "rescued" a dog from a dog park acquaintance that had purchased him from Teresa Hestekin. He found himself ill equipped to handle a basenji puppy as his first dog.
We found he had lots of minor health problems( as would a normal animal shelter recuse, not a purebred only a short time with a new owner) but also some other issues such as a luxating pattella.
I contacted her to try to obtain his certificate of neutering and rabies vaccine. I found her to be quite disinterested in the disposition of her pup and his health. Considering the patellar issue is heredity I was shocked.
I am so glad that I don't live nearby as I think I would find myself trying to be sure she could no longer breed basenjis. I can't imagine spending any time at all with this breed and willfully allowing anything such as what I am seeing posted here.
The good news is our boy is a star! A very popular B in our evergrowing Los Angeles group of B friends. A very happy and now healthy part of our family! -
RE: Zzzzzzzzzzzz
I love my lil bears snoring, my husband hates it. But then I am not a fan of his snoring!

Ringo…...our lil pest.
Johnny Ringo ( from Tombstone) may just be a challenge.
thanks guys! -
RE: My boy has a problem with our intimacy….sigh
Yes, agilebasenji, he is super in the crate. I don't usually give them those sorts of treats, they both have sensitive tummies. I can give him pigs ears, problem is they fight over them, so it requires some supervision. I will look into the link you posted…...a good stay would be good too!
and yes, macpack, we have had some body slams to the door as well. -
RE: Dixie's Cone of Shame
I am unsure about thurs, I may be there. Bella is 22 lbs, Ringo 19lbs!

My boy has a problem with our intimacy….sigh
Hi all,
We have a growing problem with our boy Ringo. I have tried to research this problem and have had no luck.
Whenever my husband and I try to be intimate our Ringo whines and wails.
We have tried crating him, in another room, sneaking around, it has become laughable. I am unsure how to break this behavior, I was hoping it would pass but no such luck.
I feel like he's trying to tell me something, I just don't know what…...
I would love any feedback,
Thanks,

RE: NCWC AKC Lure Coursing Results
Thanks, I have been at it all day, for some reason I am having trouble locating any info on these clubs online. California Coursing Assn is listed as having trials in Chino very soon. However I cannot find a website for them.
I have tried this before…...then I get tired of coming up empty. I was just hoping someone knew something I could access.....
It feels kinda like you have to "be in the know" or have a whippit or greyhound...lol!
thanks anyhow, I shall give up again until the next wave stikes me. -
RE: NCWC AKC Lure Coursing Results

My basenji likes tequila?
Hi all,
Ok this sounds odd. But I have never heard of this before.
We were making margaritas, and during the process a little tequila was spilled
( …..it happens) I cleaned the floor with a paper towel, but my two B's were rubbing all over the floor like cats with catnip! All loopy and dreamy! LOOPY!
What is the story? Are my dogs crazy? It was truly the funniest thing ever!
I have never seen a dog act like this before.
I am not advocating you try this at home...but can I get some confirmation?
Has this randomly happened to anyone else?
thanks, -

Puppy Gas
Hi there
We have a rescue puppy 9 months old a male named Ringo.
When we adopted him we were concerned about his dull coat and dandruff, the previous owner was feeding him "Puppy Chow" and rawhide chews and a myriad of other things I would never give our 3 year old girl Bella.Bella had a lot of tummy issues and allergies as a puppy after trial and error we put her on Avoderm dry food and IVD venison wet food. Changed her life.
She is very happy/healthyWe put baby Ringo on the puppy formulas over the course of a week slowly.
His coat, skin and eyes are bright and healthy…but oh lord the GAS!!!!
With the bad coat and skin, on puppy chow no gas! Ha Ha...I think maybe he good stuff is too rich for him??????
Anyone have any suggestions? Should I wait it out?
It has been just a couple of months.THANKS MUCH!

RE: Puppy Crate training
Right now he tolerates eating in the crate and about 5 more minutes. I am using the info
from Ivoss and adding more time each day with treats. he sits and whines a bit, but no more pawing at the door and spinning. He can do up to 15 minutes. He is going in on his own to look for treats too. Hopefully in another week I can get an hour. Then I can make it out to eat once in awhile! -
RE: Puppy Crate training
Thanks, I printed it out and will start to work on it!

Puppy Crate training
Hi
We just adopted a 7 month old Male basenji who we were told likes the crate but not the door closed. We have a 2 1/2 year old very happy crate girl and would like to work on his issues with the crate.
Any tips? when we did this before our girl was so small she didn't complain too much. For now he tolerates the door closed while he eats but when he's done he has tantrums. We ask him to sit, which he does and wait till he is calm before letting him out.
I just don't want to cause undue stress since he is new to our house and it is very different from his previous environment.
Any tips would truly help!
thanks
