My Sahara is almost 13, she is my sweetheart. I have had other dogs but this is my first Basenji, I would like more but my husband says no. He wants his next dog to be able to let it run in the woods. We all know that is impossible with a Basenji, especially when you have wild animals on the property like deer, and turkeys.

My Sahara is a picky eater as well. I feed her Dry kibble Royal Canin, with cut up chicken thigh & a little broth. I heat it a bit, she hates cold food. I give her French Style (no salt) green beans at night with chicken. She also loves white rice with chicken & broth. I know she is spoiled, but I want her to eat good. On her Birthday she gets steak, Just Saying!!!!

Trying to get attention, your Basenji is bored & wants to play.

What is the best way to help my Basenji lose about 8pds. She weighs 33 at present, I feed her 2 times a day, 1 cup at each setting, should I cut one feeding out or just feed her less. I probably need to walk her more also. Any suggestions would be appreciated!

I had her DNA on her done years ago, they reported that she has the carrier gene from her mother and father! So, don't I need to test to see if she is affected, somewhat confused now! Someone told me the strips were expensive!

I need to start testing my Basenji with urine strips for Faniconi now that she is 6yrs, old. I had her DNA tested yrs. ago and she has the genes on both sides, much to my dismay. I got her from a petshop, which, I will never do again, didn't know about backyard breeders then. The strips are expensive so I need to know where to get the best price. Thanks in advance for any suggestions!
