Thank you for all the input. Rocky has finally made friends with my son. He actually shaved his beard off and is just now spending some playtime with him

Good morning.
Good morning. We recently adopted a rescue pup. His name is Rocky. He's about 16 lbs and 17" high. He's not a very vocal boy. Rarely barks. However, he makes a wining sound and howls when he thinks I've left him behind. He excessively cleans himself like a cat. We've only had him a week, so he's slowly opening up. He's a very sweet and loving boy who definitely likes to sleep. He's about 2 years old. We would just like some input from others if he may be part besenji . The rescue says he definitely has dachshund in him, but very unsure if what else. Thank you for any input. I'm not sure how to add an image of him lol![0_1589550961126_IMG_20200515_083521~2.jpg](Uploading 89%)

Any ideas of his mix
We just saved our guy from the shelter. He's 18 lbs. I think he's a bit underweight. The shelter had him listed as a dachshund mix, but no idea what he's mixed with. He's still very shy and learning to feel at home. Does not bark, but makes a wining noise and howls up a storm when excited or upset. Very active, but likes to sleep undisturbed. He cleans himself continuously like a cat lol. Could he be a whippett basenji mix?

Only charging and biting my adult son
We've had our guy for a week now. He's a truly amazing boy. However, he fears my adult son. He can be playing with him, then suddenly charges and and goes for biting. Not play biting. My son is an animal lover and gentle with Rocky. Any suggestions on how to help him understand his big brother won't hurt him. The aggression always occurrs when I'm in the room.

How to introduce a 2 year old to a dog park
We recently adopted 2 year old Rocky. He's 16 lbs. What would be the best way to introduce him to a dog park. Not sure how dog friendly he is. He does flirt with the senior German Shepherd girl that lives next door and seems to not care to much about my son's 7 lb adult cat

RE: Good morning.
He's about 2 years old. He's 14 inches high at the shoulder and 16 inches long. Hind legs are about 17 in. Here's about 16 lbs. His one front elbow seems to bow out a little. At this moment, no vets are taking new pets, so having to wait for his first check up. Just wondering what this could be from and what we can do to help him in the mean time. During play, a zoomy moment, he wimpered at bit when he bent that leg wrong. He's able to run incredibly well and fast and plays like crazy. So it's not a medical emergency. His hind legs stand about an inch higher than his front legs

RE: Any ideas of his mix
@giza1 yes. She was a sharpei dachshund mix. Her breed was very prone to cancer, which took her anyway at the age of 17. We had her on a special home cooked diet to help prevent and then treat cancer. That's the only reason we're curious about our new babies breed. Would just like to know anything he may be predisposed to health wise.

RE: Only charging and biting my adult son
He's very gentle with food. Let's me touch his feet, kiss his belly. Very mild mannered. Of course he does crazy zoomys and gets a little riled up. But I can tell him no nicely and he calms down. He doesn't respond to any words, only actions and the tone of your voice.

RE: Only charging and biting my adult son
He's around 2. All we know is the husband dropped him off saying he was allergic to him. I agree with the not playing right now. My son is 6'3. So a big enough guy to scare a 18 pound baby. Rocky is a little under weight and skittish of sudden noises and movement. He doesn't know any commands or even his name. I kept his name because it was his name for 2 years. I didn't want to confuse him more. He acts like he was constantly crated. I close the door at times so he can socialize with the family. He's great with females

Just curious about his breed. Our baby girl we had for 14 years was sharpei dacshhound, along with other things. We learned the sharpei are prone to cancer. We cooked organic food for her and bought her special vitamins. We had her 17 years. Just like to know any issues he may have later in life that we can help prevent

RE: Any ideas of his mix
@rugosab not sure just as yet. Haven't bathed him. He's definitely not a stinky boy. He keeps himself pretty clean, even cleaning his paws after a walk.
