Daysie is Beautiful and all EARS!! What a cutie… I wonder what she is mixed with??

Seems like more folks are breeding for looks only and trying to find the "next new designer breed." It's sad when so many dogs, mixed and purebreds, are looking for homes. I'm happy to say my Basenji/Whippet mix came from a local "kill" shelter.

Have you ever heard of a bullador?? I ran into a guy that told me he paid nearly $5,000 for one… a lab mixed with a english bulldog.... he stated that the pregnancy normally has to be helped along (artificial insemination?) and that 10 of the 14 pups were stillborn... that's just crazy and doesn't sound natural.

Hollie has slept in the bed since the first night she came home from the shelter. We definately don't need the electric blanket in the winter… just her!!

I've had Hollie for 3 1/2 years now. She is a Basenji mixed with Whippet. This I have know for a while…. What I didn't now was that this type of mix was called a Lurcher (also known as a longdog).

I'm sure alot of you know what they are, but it was new to me. A Lurcher is derived from sighthound crosses and is bred to hunt a specific type of game.

I always knew Hollie was a double sighthound, but I didn't know there was a specific name for this kind of cross.

Hollie is a Basenji/Whippet mix. I got her at a local animal shelter. Don't know if the mix was on purpose or accident and don't care…. Personally I prefer the mixes!!
