So sorry to hear about your toe. Zaki is so photogenic. We are in the process of getting our B-Boy, his name is Imhotep, we're going to call him Imo for short. We may have him from the breeder in NJ in a week or maybe two.

RE: Learn about me, and some questions
Hello Basenji Whisperers, I really love your love for our B-pack hounds! I'm so thankful for the many hours I've gotten to spend with our new B-Boy Imo. I believe I'm now a member of his pack... I hope I've made the cut. He does seem to enjoy when I whistle a tune, I think it's enjoyment... let's just say he hasn't peed on my favorite shirt, yet.
Some of you may recall my prior "Thin Skin" call for help... Here's an exciting update... My wise partner Lee, being the observant man he is, devised a behavioral (on our part) response that has resulted in a significant decrease in my skin removal. Imo is very empathetic, when he sinks his teeth in; mostly when excited and playing, we don't pull away or say anything, we make eye contact. His bite softens and he lets go! It's amazing. Take good care all! Best, Paul

RE: Don't read this, it might make you cry (with laughter)
OMG, That is sweet and so Basenji! Amazing how quickly they grow. How old is Zaki? Imo is just under 14 weeks. Take good care and stay safe.

Thin Skin, OUCH!
We are finding our way with our beautiful B-boy, Imhotep, Imo for short! I spent the first two nights with my head in the crate to help him acclimate; he slept with his head on my neck and occasionally batted my face with his big paws.
Now to my question, I'm sure you know what's coming... when he gets excited he starts to nip and then it turns into biting, then no amount of NOs can get him to stop, we think he thinks it part of the fun. I've taken to wearing thick hoodies, to protect the skin I've got left... lol sort of. This behavior is always connected to excitement and 95% of the time he is a perfect gentleman.
Oh, wise Basenji Forum Sages, any thoughts, tips or blood banks (he has never drawn blood -yet) that you would recommend? Any feedback is welcome.
He's eating well, he's coming along with house training, he sleeps just fine and has no problem being touched all over. We walk him and play with him regularly.

RE: Hello from Oregon
Hello back from NY! I too would like to see a pic of Zaki, we are in the process of preparing for a puppy and we're not sure what color or sex we want. I'd love to see a brindle.
Welcome to you both. P
