Welcome, cattle country!! This is an informative site. If you haven't read through some of the threads please do so. You'll find lots of info for you. I'm sure someone can direct you to a breeder. You may want to try BRAT also.
HAllo CeeKay! welcome!
sorry to write it here.. but I was really wondering if any of the basenji of the forum comes from BRAT..
here in Italy we haven't got anything like that,
that's maybe bacause there's not so many Bs around hereβ¦

Welcome to the forum, it is a great place to share Basenji information and make new friends! Since you are Italian, you know the meaning of my Basenji girl's name⦠Bella Bambino Biamondi (she is a girl... my Italian is limited to a few words and I found out later it should have been Bambina). The Biamondi is similar to my great-granparents last name whe they came to America from Italy! I dream of someday traveling to Italy!!! Hopefully my dream will come true...
well English speaking you have less problems with gender!!! Anyway, Bella Bambino is a real good name!
this reminds me there was a mare (I think at the beginning of the XIX cent., in England), a pure bred, called Signorina (=miss) who never won a race, and her owner had no money to find a famous stallion for her, but she fell in love at first sight with a stalion, not a real winner⦠Signorinetta (little signorina) arrived eleven months later and she became a very super star and won lots of races!!! that's the power of love!
Sorry, I like this true story so much I wanted to tell you!
Sara
Welcome! Here's a toast to Leonardo! You didn't know Mona Lisa had a Basenji did you.

I need a little time to understand how to post some pics,
I'll try!
Thanks to all for your welcome, now I take a ride (;) ) in thw threads.. and read something more about your experiences!

Ciao to all,
I'm Sara, I write from Trieste, Italy, a town east of Venice where I live with my fiancee β¦ and Biagio, our year-and-a-half male basenji.. (by the way in Italy Saint Biagio protect and support those suffering from sore throat! )
We chose to take Biagio home after visiting a sort of pet shop where he was kept alone in a box, and was destined to an ugly end because he was nearly 3 months old at that time and had his nose completely pink, yet.
He is absolutely sweet and easy going with most other dogs and cats, and, eventually, his nose is almost totally black (last summer he got sunburnt during a boat trip since it was still pink!)
Sorry for my English, I will certainly read as much as I can of the forum, but it would be more difficult for me to reply or to tell my stories..
Anyway, happy to be get to know this community!!
I'm not sure if it is right to write it here, but for those of you who knows a little bit of Italian... take a look here (we're a lively community and loooooove to host new guests from around the world!)
