Unfortunately we did not get the outcome we wanted. A neighbor called me today and recognized Tegres on the side of a busy highway. He had been hit by a vehicle at some point this morning. The only consolation we have is that it looks like he probably died instantly. My husband and I are completely heart broken over this as we treat our fosters like our own babies.

Lost basenji Knoxville, Tennessee
Thursday Sep 8 @ 5:00pm our foster basenji Tegres escaped out of the garage in the cedar bluff area near bob gray road. He is a 2.5 year old brindle/white neutered male. He has a black collar with white polka dots. He didn't come with tags and had not received his tags from the rescue yet and we do not know if he is microchipped. He is a very sweet boy but may get snappy if youtry to grab at him. Anyone who is in the area please keep an eye out. We have driven around, posted flyers, put flyers in mailboxes, talked to kids at the busstop, talked to the garbage men, posted on fb, craigslist, and linkedin. I called the emergency vets and am working on the local vet clinics as well. Our shleter requires that you come to the shelter to look for your stray so I'll be checking there after work. Please crosspost this to any lists you may be on!

RE: Weird lump
Thanks for all the input. I'm calling as soon as the vet opens at 8:30 today. The lump doesn't feel like it is attached to the skin. It is more to the side than one of her mammary glands. The timing really concerned me to since it seems to have come up in a day or two. My older dog has fatty tumors and another one of my fosters has cysts and this lump doesn't really feel like any one of those two things. I'll let you know what the vet says. Thanks!

Weird lump
I noticed today that my foster dog Zoe has developed this weird lump to the side of her abdomen. We went to the vet last Thursday for vaccines and it wasn't there then. My husband says he first noticed it yesterday. It's oval shaped and squishy. Does anybody have any thoughts or had something like this come up? Otherwise she is acting fine. We are going to call the vet in the am but I thought I'd see if anyone had any ideas about what might be going on! I attached some pics of it.

RE: 2 basenjis in Knoxville need help
I wanted to let you know that i did hear back from the person who posted the Craigslist ad. He sent back a really nice reply that said he was still making some tough decisions in regards to his father and that if he decided he needed any more help he would let me know. He at least has all the info to contact BRAT and my email if he has any more follow up questions.

RE: 2 basenjis in Knoxville need help
I'm in Knoxville and volunteer for BRAT so I emailed the owner a link to contact BRAT if he/she is interested in getting help re-homing this pair. I'll let you know if I get a response.

RE: Feral Cat Trapping
I trapped one of the three. We're working on getting the others tonight. Fingers crossed!

Feral Cat Trapping
I have been trying to catch some feral kittens over the last couple of days. I fed them a couple of nights and mornings and set a trap last night. We caught the big papa cat and he is off to the vet to get neutered. I haven't seen the kittens in a couple of days and I'm thinking mama cat might have moved them. Does anybody know how far she might have moved them? I'm setting the trap out again tonight so I was hoping I might get a kitten or two (there were three a couple of days ago).

RE: Stolen B in Atlanta, GA
Good news! BRAT just sent out a twitter message that says Woody has been recovered and is back with his owner. No details yet on what happened but it's good to know he is safe and home.

RE: Stolen B in Atlanta, GA
I haven't heard anything else. I think according to the dates on his email to BRAT the dog was stolen on Sat night. Super sad. It makes you sick to think that people out there would steal your pet.
