I now have 2 Basenji's, yikes. And boy have I fallen for them. They are just the best!!!!! I would love to attend a Basenji meetup. The photo's y'all have here are great, looks like a fantastic time. I think they and I would really enjoy it. When is the next one, are they scheduled, and how do I found out about them?? I am new to this, can anyone help??

I just got my second Basenji this Monday, and all is well. I think!!! Diego is a year, and the pup I just adopted is 2 months. Diego is going through a little change, and gets nasty sometimes but then a second later they are playing or sleeping. I thought the same as you, I wanted to get him a play mate. He's such a sweet boy. So I hope this works out. Does anyone have any pointers??????? They are brothers, same parents from a different litter in Florida. There are pups left for adoption. If you want the email let me know. He, the breeder is wonderful, and Diego's parents breed beautiful well mannered pups. Good luck!!!!

I tried with BRAT and it just didnt work out for me. I have a small child and they weren't very happy about that. Long story but there were other things they required, and each time I tried for one he ended up adopted (I guess thats a good thing).

Diego has a new brother!!!! Pedro is his name, and he's a Tri. Real brothers, same parents, different litters (does that make them brothers?? I think so). Diego has been king for a year, so his patience is being tested, he's handling it very well. I love my Basenji's soooooooo much, would love to have a whole bunch of them.

If you introduce your Basenji to water early on in pup hood is it possible for them to not have a problem with rain or even be able to enjoy swimming??
I have heard that. My Basenji pup is 10 months old, and ran into a lake after some deer the other day. No fear!!! i guess this may train him to like the water. My other Basenji HATED it.
my first Basenji was VERY nasty, bit a lot!!!! And my fault for not properly training her, she ran me. My latest and most wonderful Basenji has been trained exactly as others have told you, and he is the most wonderful boy. Try it and stick to it, and you will never be fearful of your dog.
