She's alright. The dead skin was just from some infection.
And Midge says the losing color when they sleep happens with some of them, especially puppies.

Tanza, I didn't call Midge since it didn't seem urgent then, I sent her an email last week and haven't gotten a response yet.
Mac, thanks! I'm not usually around Tampa though. I live at south Orlando.
Hi Innociv, your puppy and my girl, Zoni are pretty closely related through your puppy's dam. It is just some little flakes or is it something more significant? Zoni had some flakey skin on her ear once when she got a yeast infection but it went away with a little treatment. Hopefully it is nothing serious.
The dead skin on her ear I scraped off and there was blood on some parts afterwards. On her paws it is light flaking, it doesn't look serious like frostbite looks or anything, but seems odd for a puppy. She also bites at her paws.
Now she's getting dead skin on her ears and paws. I'll have to take her in again.
Serengeti Colby is the father and mother is Ch. Serengeti Hot Tip.
Yeah I'm not super concerned because she acts pretty normal(but this is my first puppy, last was a rescue).
I sent the breeder an email since it doesn't seem urgent.
I probably should go to the vet and have a blood test done..
I know pale paws/gums can mean something really bad, but she doesn't seem to show other symptoms of something bad.
The vet did check her heart with the stethoscope. She checked her hips, heart, stool, temperature and all that seemed fine.
I was scheduled to go Wednesday for one of her vaccinations, but maybe I should go tomorrow to have them do a blood test.
I got her from Midge Greenlee of Serengeti kennel.
My first guess is that maybe she has Anemia.. but I'm not sure that explains her extremities getting their color back then it disapearing.
Even when her paws/ears lose color, they're still pretty warm I think.
It's been around 68-72 degrees. But she usually sleeps on me so she's warm.
Her name is Cinnabun.

Just remembered the Vet didn't do a blood test. The vet thought she looked fine, but her paws, gums, ears were nice and pink by the time we were at the vet. The results I'm waiting for are just stool.
I guess I should go again to have them do a blood test.
I just got a Basenji puppy this Saturday and noticed that when she sleeps that her paw pads turn white when she sleeps, ears lose their color, and gums turn a light pink.
The color comes back a bit after she's been awake.
I took her to the vet Monday morning but test results aren't back yet, and wondered if anyone had ideas..
She acts pretty much healthy besides this.
No I wouldn't think of breeding to make money. 8 puppies in a year, 800 each, is $6400 for 6 months work. That's very little money for all that work even BEFORE expenses. I would because I like them a lot, and would get to raise some puppies. I don't think they all have to be show dogs.
I talked to some breeders, and one of them I really like, but that's 8 months away.
I looked on BRAT and two that I want are both out of state and saying "pending" so I believe they're spoken for.
Thanks a ton for the very helpful response.
They breed bassats too, i'm not sure about french bulldogs. But yeah.. it does sound like you're thinking of the person. I didn't know if it's appropriate to name who they are.
And yeah, other breeders I talked to near by said they tend to have all the puppies called for before they're 10 weeks old.
And yeah, the price does seem high ($1200 for some) but if fanconi checks out and I want them, I could negotiate price.
If one parent is fanconi free, and another is a carrier, the pups will not get fanconi, right?
I think if they could potentially have Fanconi, it'd be better I get a rescue.. I can't wait 8 months.
And why is limited AKC papers good? What if I wanted to breed them at once point?
Well this time of year I've had trouble finding Basenji puppies. The only one I've found in driving distance is about 7 hours away in Georgia(so a whole day counting there and back).
I haven't called yet, but some things I noticed that are worrying is that it says Health Guaranteed but doesn't mention anything about Fanconi syndrome.
I've seen other breeders websites and they often actually have scans of their dogs papers there.
Also, this breeder I believe breeds 3 liters a year. They have 11 4-5 month olds now. It says that they are kept outside, except for their adult ones.
Are there issues with having them kept outside? Basenji's are an inside dog after all. I'm not sure how long they keep them with their mother.. I'm going to call soon.
