Tim,
I am so sorry to hear about that. What a scare! An old friend of mine lived in Loveland and his dog was attacked by a mountain lion. The lion jumped into the kennel. Thank god people were around and were able to scare the mountain lion out of the cage. After that they put a lid on the kennel to keep anything from getting in. There lab ended up ok but still…..how scary.
Thankfully everything turned out ok.

Hello Jason,
I contacted my vet when Tallulah started sneezing. The vet indicated to me over the phone that her sneezing was quite common. They suggested a small dosage of benedryl which other form members suggested too. I gave her a small dosage the other day and it just made her very groggy. She still paws at her eyes and nose and it was suggested on this forum that she may have an object in her snout. It has me concerned so i'll be taking her into the vet to have her looked at tomorrow.
Hopefully we can figure out what is causing her so much discomfort and come up with a resolution.
Thank you.

RE: Our Thoughts on Training and Raising a Basenji
Jason,
I've tried a similar approach with my girl with her aggressive biting and it worked. When Tallulah would bite I would walk away and she responded quite well.
I enjoyed reading your story. It is well thought out and very detailed. From the way you describe Roo, he sounds like a very smart boy. -

Thank you. I apologize for posting my email address. I did not realize it was against guidlines.

RE: Fun and Games
Tallulah loves to hide her "babies" from me and when I find one she gets very excited as if it were a surprise that I found them.
You never know what you will find when you move the furniture. I've found undergarments that have been missing for weeks! -

Tanza,
Thanks for the information on foxtails. I did not understand what you were referring to I had no idea that they could go up your dogs nose. Tallulah is definitely pawing at her nose. I'll make an appointment with my vet as soon as possible.
I would love to check out Basenji Club of Northern California.

Thank you for the reply! I live North of Sacramento in Roseville.
Please excuse my response but what exactly is a fox tail? Are you referring to her tail? Her tail curls during the day except for when she is asleep.
Thank you for the information Tanza. I will read the "sticky" on basenji health. I've never heard of a DNA fanconi test. Is there a "sticky" on that too?
It is going to take a few days to search through all of this information. -

Hello everyone,
My name is Jill and I have a 2 year old female basenji named Tallulah. I am so happy I found this forum. I was searching for dog allergies and here I am
Tallulah has recently been sneezing and pawing at her face. I am becoming quite concerned and am wondering if there is anything I can do to help. Tallulah is my first basenji. I purchased her from a pet store back in Colorado. I like to think of it as a rescue. She was not in a very good environment but that face and those wrinkles…I had to take her with me. She has been by my side ever since.
I thought I was the only one who had a "special dog". This is great. Thank you again and I look forward to hearing from other basenji owners soon.Jill
