Hi! I'm a new member in search of my Basenji. I had a wonderful Basenji, Bear, when I was growing up. It's a two cat household and I'd love to add a cat friendly Basenji to the mix, and also meet and learn more about the Basenji community out there.

Since Buster is a rescue, I would highly suggest that you have DNA Fanconi testing done. It is a cheek swab that you do yourself. You can order the test at www.offa.org for 65.00. Money well spent for peace of mind and know your Basenji's status. Scroll down till you get to Fanconi DNA

we have no idea what he is. The rescue told us he is some sort of basenji mix. But they have no idea about the parents either. He was found as a stray when he was maybe 8 weeks old. At the end it doesn't matter what his genetics is, we love his personality!

He is very cute and you are right, in the end the fact that he is a great family addition is the most important thing…. welcome

Sharron, my daughter told me about a Basenji rescue club in Seattle and my wife and I have thought that once Salem is gone and if we decide to dedicate ourselves to another dog, we would like to get one from a rescue club.

Our first Basenji, Tanna was bought from a breeder named Charlotta Jones who was a very active member of the Evergreen Basenji club and introduced us to showing through them. Nice to know the club is still going strong.
