People post mixes here and on Facebook all the time thinking the are a basenji or a mix.. This one is one of the few that really might be! She's probably mixed but I have seen purebred capped basenjis and ones with heavy ticking. A dna test would be interesting!
Her ears look a bit more rat terrier than basenji and the breeds have such a similar look that they get mistaken for each other a lot. I have a friend with a red/white standard rat terrier (show dog) who had a docked tail and is constantly mistaken for a basenji.

Hi Everyone,
Nice to see a new board talking about my favorite subject–basenjis. My name is Laura and I live in California with my husband, two basenjis and one cat. When we got our first basenji -- Talker -- we had done our research and thought we were prepared to take on this beautiful breed. However, I don't think any amount of research prepared us for our first basenji. After two years of getting to know each other, both my husband and I agree that we would do it all over again. This is our breed of choice and our two basenjis have only brought us many many years of sheer love and enjoyment.
