Is anyone familiar with this breeder? They would have had litters in 2007 and 2008. The dogs are registered APRI and possibly another registry, non AKC.

Confused. Really. We have breeders listed in AKC, and in breed clubs. OFA maintains health certifications. Why reinvent the wheel? It's unlikely breeders who haven't tested or didn't report bad results will just open up to you.

Then you have Sally's database...which is extensive. A look at her work on just Basenjis might give you an idea of the enormity of what you want to do. So I really must be missing what your reasons and goals are.

exactly…the term that you hear most often is for the breeding to "get the money back I spent on the dog" as if a pet were an investment!! ugh...

A pet is an investment…. although your returns are in the companionship and affection you receive 😃 Similar to the way a car is an investment. As soon as you drive it off the lot, it loses much of its value to others (depreciates) & although it provides a service, costs you time, money, upkeep & maintenance for around a decade.
But on a more serious note, I like this chart a lot. I do think its a great reference for those who aren't sure what differentiates good breeders from less reputable breeders, even if some of the lines between two different categories could blur or overlap.

I'm sorry for your loss. I did not mean to seem overly harsh, but I am glad you found the article eye-opening.
I am very sad that you lost your boy so young.
Please consider giving a homeless dog a second chance, or buy only from responsible breeders for a pup.
it really is worth it.

Wanda is planning two litters, they (the bitches) were just bred or are being bred now, so she will be expecting maybe end of December, more likely January.
