We asked my friend, who Kona knows, to come stay with her for the weekend and keep her company. They had a great weekend, played a lot and went for long runs.

When we got home last night Kona showed us some of her new tricks, which include going upstairs (which was never allowed nor tempted) and opening doors. We spent all night playing with her and reassuring her that we were home.

This morning, I got up extra early with her so we would have quality time together before I needed to start work. (I work from home). Well this morning she is going insane, even though we went outside and played for a long time, cuddled on the couch, etc.

I am assuming this is her way of showing she is angry or spiteful with us for leaving her, but we left her in the best possible situation: in her home with someone who loves her and played with her.

Any suggestions on how to get Kona to calm down and stop misbehaving?

Mine our always wound up when we return from a trip away. I have never felt that it was anger or spite just excitement. It is also really hard for them if you are going right back to work the next morning. We really try to schedule our trips so we have a day with them before going back to work, it gives them enough time to burn off that extra energy boost they get from you returning to home.

+1. I went away on Saturday. True to form, yesterday the dogs were off the wall…even with 2, 3+ mile walks. It is just pent up energy and excitement IMHO.
