When we had Calvin boarded last week, the owner commented that
our dog is a Basenji mix. He is a wonderful dog and looks much like a couple
of the dogs on the site. I'll post a pic here soon so people can
See what a handsome dog he is.

Welcome! I know exactly how you feel, I got my first basenji last year from Kathy and don't know how I lived without him. I too planned on getting another in a few years, I buckled and got a second this year 🙂 Now I don't know how I ever lived without the two of them!

You met my dog Dude's littersister Searsha in NJ I believe, her momma and I keep in touch and talk about how the pups are growing up 🙂

Your little Willow was a sweetheart from day one, I got to visit the puppies a few times. Her momma is also the biggest LOVE, she was the first basenji I met and look where I am now 🙂

He's a hungry dog today. Gave him 1/2 cup in the morning and just a few minutes ago. He had no problem eating. I'm much more happy that he's eating now. He likes his bone as well. Not too much into the Kong yet.

I just wish he didn't cry in his crate when I put him in there. Feel bad for him but I know it just takes adjusting. He is perfectly fine when I return home after he's been in there awhile. It's just the initial time. To be honest though, this transition went far better than I expected. I was prepared for the worst. This little guy has done very well.

Hello & Welcome!!! Congrats on Scooter!! I liked his picture. My b is also a mix - basenji & whippet (fast & what a hunter). I used to take my dog to doggie day care and I also worked their briefly. The owner's sister had a dog that was a lab/basenji mix. He was larger in frame style, not necessarily weight, had the weight legs, collar, a very curly tail with a white tip. When playing, he also pulled his gums back and showed his teeth, just like my b mix. Whatever Scooter is or isn't, he is most definately a CUTIE!!!

Actually, the Springer is designed so the dog can't run too far forward or backwards. The dog essentially has to stay right beside the bike. If a dog was particularly persistent, as a basenji is wont to be, it could somehow get between the two bike wheels, in that area underneath the seat, to the other side. That has never happened though. Once the wheels are spinning, Rou seems to instinctively understand that they are to be avoided.

My husband and I have a red and white Basenji boy 4 1/2 mths called Bandit and a 2yr Lowchen boy called Alfie.
We are revisiting obedience for Alfie for first time training for Bandit.
We are walking 2 a day with haltis now and what a difference it has made to our walks. Instead of having our arms pulled off, the boys have progressed to walking beside us…. Hooray... and oh so enjoyable.
